Estación Central Public Schools Spelling Contest

The Estación Central Public Schools Spelling Contest took place on December 7th in our Salón de Honor. 33 students participated from 10 schools located in Estación Central and the judges were 6 students from the Pedagogy in Spanish program: Araceli Denisse Ortega Saavedra, Catalina Ignacia Puebla Masias, Michelle Beatriz Olivares Flores, Daniela Katherne Nuñez Ortiz, Camila Javiera Oliva Millañir and Jazmine Leiva Machuca.

During this activity, the Chair of the Department of Linguistics and Literature gave some welcoming words to the attendees. There were also some representatives of Estación Central Municipality: Pablo Maldonado (Estación Central Communal Coordinator) and Odette González (Head of Estación Central Technical Unit from the Communal Education Department), as well as some teachers and parents.

This spelling contest is being celebrated for the first time since 2017. It certainly was an extremely positive experience that gathered every local agent. However, we still think there are ways to improve the results even more. It is a privilege for our department to support this kind of activities and see our Pedagogy in Spanish students participating together with the educational establishments from Estación Central. There is a noble and genuine interest in being part of the comprehensive development of all students from those institutions with language skills that led them to this instance.
